Intern Job Description: Marketing and Public Relations Intern

D'Ashley's House, Inc. is a non-profit organization founded in February 2013 based on the idea of rebuilding, restoring and renewing women back to a Godly foundation of living. The establishment of DHI recognizes that every woman is wonderfully and uniquely made therefore the assistance she needs to reach greater heights would be exactly the same. DHI empowers and educates women to increase their spiritual, social, and economic strengths by providing them with resources needed to help build a foundation in each of these areas.

Position: Marketing and Public Relations Intern

Description: D’Ashley’s House seeks a dynamic, self-starter to assist marketing and public relation

efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of marketing while

working for well-known community based nonprofit organization.

Responsibilities:

• Update and maintain DHI’s social media presence, including scheduling Facebook updates

• Assist in planning, writing and managing monthly eNewsletters

• Draft, distribute and pitch news releases, media alerts and other stories

• Designing flyers, graphics, e-vites and other marketing material for major events hosted by DHI

• Update the DHI website when needed

• Organize and attend monthly marketing committee meeting including preparing agenda and taking minutes

• Reach out to the community organizations, general public and donors with the message about D’Ashley House’s mission to empower women.

• Collaborating with staff on new ideas, directions, and venues for marketing and communications

• Plan and facilitate Marketing Committee meetings including distributing agenda and taking minutes

Qualifications:

• Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space

• Completed or working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., English, Marketing/Communications, or Public Relations)

• Previous internship or related experience in marketing or communications is a plus but not required

• Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel). Proficiency in     Adobe InDesign and Photoshop highly desired. Knowledge of HTML and graphic design a plus

• An effective communicator, both written and oral

• Ability to communicate in a professional manner with press and community contacts

• Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines

• Enthusiasm for the mission of D’Ashley’s House and the families we serve

Start Date: Position open until filled, requires 5-12-month commitment.

Hours: 8 – 12 hours/week, preferably twice a week in the office. Up to 4 hours can be completed at home.

• Assist in organizing and implementation of awareness and giving campaigns.

• Assist in processing donations and preparing acknowledgement letters and other correspondence.

Qualifications:

Completed or working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., English, Marketing/Communications, or Public Relations, Hospitality, Nonprofit Management, or other relevant major).

• Previous internship or related experience in marketing or communications is a plus.

• Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel). Knowledge of Word Press a plus.

Intern Job Description: Grant Writing Intern

Position: Grant Writing Intern

Description: D’Ashleys House is seeking individuals to fulfill an important and meaningful role as we pursue grant funding for our projects and administration. In this position the individual will be immersed in our grant research and grant writing work. The individual will provide essential research for the development of our grant application strategy, and will draft and produce grant proposals. Responsibilities could include:

  • Researching available and applicable grants
  • Data entry and time-lining for grant proposals
  • Research, retrieval and assembly of background material for grant proposals
  • Drafting of letters of inquiry and full grant proposals for submission

The primary responsibility will be for the research of applicable potential grant opportunities, drafting of Letters of Inquiry and Grant Proposals and creating and updating our online grant application collaboration system for the organization.

Requirements:

  • A six-twelve-month commitment, at least 10 hours per week (but no maximum)
  • Goal driven Undergraduate or Graduate students preferably with non-profit or other volunteer experience, or a desire to gain such experience
  • Strong time-management, organizational, and internet research skills a must
  • Ability to self-motivate, stay on task and work independently

Position: Project Management Intern

Description: For this project management internship, we are looking for creative thinkers, who can help create and coordinate the different projects and with project volunteer recruitment and management. Furthermore, interns will get an inside view of the structure and governance of a social enterprise, learning about company finance and fundraising, marketing and media and general management. 

Responsibilities: The intern will work together with the current volunteers to create inspiring, and social projects. These projects will differ depending on what volunteers are present. The intern will be expected to help with finding and allocating resources and budgets for the projects, making sure the projects are well thought through, connecting with the people the projects are aimed at, ensuring timely execution of the projects, helping out with the projects and post-project evaluation.

Requirements: We are looking for organized, analytical thinkers with good interpersonal skills, capable of executing engaging projects and help with increasing our positive social impact. Previous experience with any type of project or event organization a plus. Skills:  Active Team Player, Great People Skills, Well Organized, Analytical Thinking, General Problem Solving, Attention to Detail
